We are an innovative social benefit company selling and providing financing for equipment  systems that increase rural business incomes. We provide lease-to-own plans for farmers to  purchase solar water pumps for irrigation, for fishers to acquire lights used in fishing,  and for other types of equipment like solar refrigerators.

Founded in 2014, Simusolar operates across half of Tanzania and Uganda with 9 offices and  over 130 staff. Our vision is rural prosperity, enabled by productive equipment systems.

Position: Marketing Manager 

Role Summary:

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for be responsible for developing marketing strategy  and go to market plans at a global level for a diverse range of products to support our growth  strategy. This includes developing strategies and tactics to boost the company’s brand &  reputation, deploying successful marketing campaigns from ideation to execution,  experimenting with various lead-generation activities, tracking and analyzing the performance  of advertising campaigns, managing the marketing budget and ensuring that all marketing  material is in line with our brand identity. The Manager will lead, manage and ensure that the  marketing team meets the company marketing objectives. This position requires a results oriented individual with great interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills, who  understands branding, has hands on experience with advertising /web analytics tools and is able  to turn creative ideas into effective marketing strategies.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning –Steers the Marketing Program 

– Develop Marketing strategy, plan & budget based on a deep understanding of the market  driven by customer insights, our partnerships and market opportunities.

– Champion & co-design systems and processes to execute, monitor, evaluate key marketing  initiatives and report on performance of key performance indicators.

– Researching and analyzing consumer behavior, market trends and competitor activity to build  and improve Simusolar Segmentation strategy to ensure the business a competitive edge. – Monitor the marketing budget on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds for  maximum effectiveness.

Trade Manager – Build Awareness and Manage Lead Generation 

– Planning and executing marketing initiatives including campaigns, events, point of sales  material, sponsorships and corporate social responsibility programs.

– Measuring and reporting on campaign performance and assessing KPIs and ROI. – Regional monthly lead-generation planning based on needs of sales department.  – Support sales department with standardized outreach and messaging materials. – Produce valuable and engaging content for print, electronic and digital media that attracts,  converts & resonate with the target market and drives qualified traffic.

– Overseeing the production of advertisements, promotional materials and mail campaigns and  approved marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies – Ensuring that messaging and marketing activities are aligned with brand and company values.

Consumer Insights Manager – Market Research and Segmentation Strategy

– Planning market research programs with Business Development team for in-depth learning on  crop-region market segments and their full value chains.

– Develop personas for market segments, target customers. Fully profile customer “Jobs to be  done”, “Pains” and “Gains”.

– Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to reach target customer segments. – Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies and vendors – Regular meetings with customers to confirm customer satisfaction

Product Marketing Manager – Input to team on potential for new or modified products

– Consider inputs from marketing and sales teams to bring new product ideas or product  modifications to the Market team for consideration and evaluation.

– Evaluate value proposition and target market size for any new products presented.

People Manager – Recruit, Build and Nurture  

– Motivate and influence the direct report/team to ensure that the team/direct report stays  motivated and focused to achieve their performance targets.

– Recruit and co–develop marketing team.

– Regular review of Department KPIs, performance assessment vs KPIs along with related internal  and external reporting

– Periodically conduct performance reviews with team/direct report to confirm performance and  determine development plans.

Prerequisites: The Marketing Manager is structured, data driven, and curious:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Master’s degree will be added advantage. Experience
  • Minimum of 5-years proven work experience as a Marketing strategist, Marketing Manager or  Business Development Manager.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business development and marketing;
  • Knowledge of the agricultural sectors is an added value.

Language 

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and proficient in Kiswahili

– Reports directly to the Co-CEO

– Collaborates and supports sister company in Uganda along with Tanzania

Location: Based in Dar es Salaam with regional travel and field time
