MARKETING & COMMUNICATION MANAGER

Sector: Oil & Gas

Work location: Dar es Es Salaam

Job Purpose

To provide strategic oversight to the marketing and corporate affairs function within the organization, covering key areas including corporate brand reputation building, internal communications, media  relations, digital &  social  media,  stakeholder management, CSR, government relations and crisis management; ensuring alignment and achievement of corporate business goals

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the annual strategic marketing plans, in collaboration with Corporate Marketing team, to achieve defined business objectives across all product categories and all channels this include volume growth, market penetration, brand health and financial targets, etc
  • Build and deliver a media strategy that supports a range of reputation building activities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive multilevel engagement programme to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including the regulatory authorities
  • Design and deliver communications plans and activities to support the CSR investment programme.
  • Develop and deliver social media marketing plan that capitalizes on main social media platforms to support online community management and enhance the organization’s social media presence
  • Plan and deliver the company’s internal communications activity plan, including organizing staff events and meetings; developing content and updating the company intranet site; and creating innovative ways to communicate with staff.
  • Organize crisis preparedness training and be an integral part of managing any company issue or crisis situation, per the crisis management plan, by delivering crisis communications support.
  • Ensure that all corporate branding is executed according to the Group’s brand guidelines.
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of differentiated CVPs in collaboration with Corporate Marketing Team and Business Heads, inline with Corporate defined offering or identified best practices
  • Prepare annual Sales Promotion and Advertising budgets and manage the delivery of all marketing activity within the agreed budget
  • Monitor the business performance of the various categories and recommends corrective action when needed; evaluating ROMI in marketing initiatives and conduct post investment reviews
  • Be the owner of pricing for all brands within the Organization, working closely with finance and sales teams, monitoring prices and drive price positioning to extract value by price and brand mapping, making recommendations for pricing with guidance from brand managers.
  • Determine the most appropriate channel/sector mix to service key target customers or consumer segments
  • Collaborate with sales teams to set objectives, strategies, CVP’s and implementation plans for all key channels and sectors.
  • Make professional use of the market communications including the economic use of Market Research, Strategic Planning, Advertising, Media, Sales promotions, Event Marketing, PR, Branded signage, Sponsorship and Database Marketing.
  • Selects and manages external advertising and promotional agencies to extract maximum value and efficiencies, ensuring correct application/implementation of Group Brand & Communications guidelines/policies.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related
  • Senior level Marketing professional 7+ years of experience, <3yrs at a management level within the marketing field preferably from manufacturing/Energy or Telecom sectors
  • Accreditation with professional marketing bodies, e.g CIMA, would be a plus
  • Proven track record in managing stakeholders relationships, including customers, media, colleagues, Government, public, etc
  • Commercially savvy including good understanding of Retail, B2C and/or B2B markets
  • Strong marketing skills, with an excellent track record of converting marketing strategy into executable programs the delivers results and corporate branding
  • Strong ability to develop and communicate customer value proposition covering a wide range of aspects including pricing, brand, product/service portfolio, channel, promotions, etc
